I have been in practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist since 1983 in Los Angeles, with the last 14 years in San Clemente, California. This life work has always been a joyful labor of love, though at this time I am in a transition toward retirement. I am no longer beginning to work with new clients; however, I am available for consultation about the practice of psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing and Smovey Rings. I am also happy to assist you in finding optimal referrals.
I believe many of us are on a similar journey to find basic security, purpose and fulfillment. In the words of psychologist and Holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl…..”the last of the human freedoms is the ability to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." The wisdom in these words resonates deeply.
I am grateful for many meaningful relationships and experiences. I strive for courage to face challenges and wisdom to know when to let go (but never give up)! Another Viktor Frankl quote reflects this: "When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves." If I practice this well enough, I am okay.
As a therapist, I endeavor to understand with attention and compassion the issues that bring a person in. I offer my knowledge, skills and experience to help others discover their own unique approach for healing and growth.
Throughout my career as a "talk" therapist, I have always regarded the experience of the body to be a crucial part of therapy. As I worked primarily with cognitive and psychodynamic perspectives, I would incorporate mindfulness, breathing, gentle stretching postures and walking. Over the last several years I have studied and incorporated Somatic Experiencing (SE™), which offers an expanded understanding of how our nervous system responds to trauma and accumulated stress. With increased tools to address the physiological roots of the trauma/stress cycle, SE aims to discharge "stuck" energy and restore rhythm, balance and stabilization to a dysregulated autonomic nervous system.
I unexpectedly became a licensed re-seller of these unique rings for movement and exercise because I love how they make me feel. My intention is to share information and my experience using them and sell them when requested (in other words, no sales pitch).
With a swinging motion, steel balls roll in a grooved tube and create a vibrational frequency which synchronizes with natural rhythms in the body. In their simplicity, they are profoundly effective in producing health, wellness and fitness benefits.
The Smovey Rings help to connect movement with awareness of body sensations and are thusly utilized as a tool in Somatic Experiencing therapy. Check out the section with video and reviews, and if interested, please contact me for more information or to order.

This two minute video is a brief demonstration of how one might start to use the Smovey Vibroswing-System for a sense of well-being. By starting gently and pausing frequently, the Smovey Rings are an effective tool to increase proprioceptive and interoceptive awareness. For most people the vibrations create a pleasant sensation, reported to be both regulating and energizing.
